Since 2013, Ça va, ça va le monde! has served as a sounding board and a laboratory where writers and audience members share—often for the first time—the experience of speaking. Whether through staged readings or musical performances, language flows, brought to life by the performers. An encounter with literature from the Global South. This series of readings on RFI offers listeners the chance to discover authors from the French-speaking world whose works tell different stories. The present and current events are often at the heart of these plays, which are marked by the need to give voice to the wounds of their history: war, colonialism, corruption, and patriarchy.

Presentation

An attempt to exhaust all human conflicts through creation and dialogue. Never has an era so visibly exposed both the most hidden forms of domestic violence and the open wars between global powers.

Initiated in 2008, this theatrical project explores the material of human conflict and the impulses of hatred and destruction within us. A vast field of inquiry encompassing both large-scale wars and everyday social, sexual and racial discrimination. One central question remains: is it possible to free ourselves from them? With this expansive text, the aim is more than ever to make theatre an agora—a place for exchange, dissent and listening.

Guy Régis Jr. is a writer, translator into Creole (Maeterlinck, Proust, Camus, Koltès), and director of the Festival 4 Chemins in Port-au-Prince. His works—spanning theatre, novels and poetry—have been translated into several languages. He has also staged around twenty of his own texts, including Les cinq fois où j’ai vu mon père and L’amour telle une cathédrale ensevelie, as well as L’Acte inconnu by Valère Novarina, who travelled twice to Haiti to attend its staging with Haitian actors.
