Ça va, ça va le monde !
Israel Nzila
With RFI
République démocratique du Congo
Since 2013, Ça va, ça va le monde! has served as a sounding board and a laboratory where writers and audience members share—often for the first time—the experience of speaking. Whether through staged readings or musical performances, language flows, brought to life by the performers. An encounter with literature from the Global South. This series of readings on RFI offers listeners the chance to discover authors from the French-speaking world whose works tell different stories. The present and current events are often at the heart of these plays, which are marked by the need to give voice to the wounds of their history: war, colonialism, corruption, and patriarchy.

Clipping tells the story of Do, a woman who loses her baby one day at the market, in a city in the south-east of the DRC. The search proves fruitless, panic rises, then doubt sets in: is she really the mother? Why does the child she points to not recognize her? Gradually, everything unravels within her, like a sound reaching saturation point. This multi-voiced play can also be performed by a single character, the author notes, referring to a “mental theatre.” The war and violence Do experienced in childhood continue to explode within the character’s mind.
Clipping received the 2025 RFI Theatre Prize.
Israël Nzila lives in Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of the Congo). After studying French Literature and Civilization at the University of Lubumbashi and gaining some experience in journalism, he decided to devote himself fully to literary writing, mainly short stories. In 2024, his monologue Silence was a finalist for the 2024 RFI Theatre Prize and was read at the Festival d’Avignon as part of the “Ça va ça va le monde !” cycle. He also received the Récréatrales Prize for contemporary African dramaturgy.
