The Café des idées is, each day, a place for talks and reflections by figures from literature, the performing arts and research. Debates, conferences, workshops and broadcasts punctuate this space, which on its own embodies the spirit of the Festival d’Avignon: a place for sharing and discovery, open to all.

The Festival d’Avignon Bookshop
Books by the Café des idées participants are available directly in the courtyard of the Cloître Saint-Louis, where a “mobile bookshop” is set up. The full bookshop is otherwise located at the Maison Jean Vilar, a spacious, calm and temperate venue offering an exceptional selection of more than 3,000 titles dedicated to the performances and debates that animate Avignon. The collection of plays and essays on theatre is extended to dance, circus, puppetry and the performing arts as a whole.
