After Poquelin and Poquelin 2, tg STAN return to an assembly of Molière’s farces. Imaginary invalids and cuckolds, games of mirrors… The Flemish collective uses laughter to tell the human tragicomedy.

Presentation

Back to Molière! Since The Misanthrope (1998), tg STAN have often walked alongside the French playwright. Creating original assemblies with Poquelin (2003) and Poquelin 2 (2017), the Flemish collective showed us a gallery of funny, treacherous, and ridicule characters, misers and other imaginary invalids. Infidelity, hypocrisy, pretences… it had everything, or close to it! With 1, 2, 3 Poquelin, tg STAN return with a third scathing and exhilarating episode which synthesises their previous adventures, with eight actors playing forty characters thumbing their noses at the human tragicomedy. Quick changes in full view, rapid-fire acting, raw theatre… They follow in the footsteps of the Master of French theatre, using a staging device inspired by trestle theatre, specially created for them in the legendary Boulbon quarry. From the 17th to the 21st century, satire and laughter continue to go hand in hand every time there’s a crisis.
