It’s the story of Theseus, lost in the labyrinth of memory, searching for a possible future. After his brother’s suicide and the death of his parents, he leaves “the city in the west,” bound for a place he believes is without memory, taking with him three boxes of archives. But he is pursued by what he flees. His body paralyzes, reminding him of what he refuses to hear. He opens the boxes, and with them, the “windows of time”… Thus begins a documentary and fictional investigation that navigates between the lives of his ancestors and the social and political history of Europe.
Struck by the beauty of Camille de Toledo’s text, Valérie Dréville invites Guy Cassiers to stage and visualize it together. Alone at the center of a stage covered in the author’s archives, the actress resumes the investigation and questions the enigma of transmission. A body-memory emerges, marked by trauma and history, opening personal history to myth.
