Public cultural services: how can we bring people together, build, and defend them?

  • Café des idées

With Syndeac

Public reading, live performance, audiovisual media, cinema, visual arts, museums, publishing and heritage: beyond the diversity of practices, art forms and professions, we are united by a shared mission—to uphold a public service for the arts and culture that is accessible to everyone.

Presentation

Today, our sectors face similar threats: budget cuts, political pressure, increased competition, and growing challenges to artistic and editorial freedom. These are fundamentally democratic issues that call for a collective response, in France as well as across Europe and the wider world. Together, we must share experiences and build alliances. To bring people together, to build, to defend: three verbs expressing one common imperative.
