With her signature style, driven by electrifying music, choreographer Sung Im Her invites us to reflect on how art can inspire action in response to the changing environment around us.
The content of this page
Through her signature electrifying movement style, driven by vibrant music, Sung Im Her’s new production 1 Degree Celsius transforms the stage into the pulse of a warming world. The piece raises a fundamental question: how can art spark action in the face of the changing environment around us?
Featuring seven dancers, the choreography explores human behaviour and its environmental impact, beginning with a simple yet decisive gesture: walking. At once origin, signature, and horizon between natural and urban spaces, it unfolds to a pulsating electronic music score.
The result is a sensitive and physical experience: a planet on the brink of tipping point, rendered visible and visceral through a multitude of bodies held taut by hope and resilience.
전율을 일으키는 움직임과 맥동하는 음악 속에서, 허성임은 변화하는 환경에 대하여 예술이 어떻게 행동을 촉발할 수 있는지를 묻는다.

Korea Arts Management Service(KAMS) works to connect Korean artists and their creations with stages and audiences across the world, supporting the international circulation and global presence of Korean performing arts.
For its 80th edition, the Festival d’Avignon welcomes Korean as its guest language. Through performances, literature, and a constellation of artistic encounters, this programme offers an opportunity to share with audiences the vitality, imagination, and cultural depth of contemporary Korean arts.
This invitation has grown out of the longstanding exchange and collaboration between the Seoul Performing Arts Festival(SPAF), an annually held festival organized by KAMS, and the Festival d’Avignon. KAMS is proud and delighted to join this initiative as a main partner, introducing outstanding works representing Korea to Avignon after 28 years. On this occasion, the SPAF will continue to strengthen its collaboration with the Festival d'Avignon.
We hope that the openness, resilience, and artistic imagination carried by the Korean language will resonate with audiences around the world, creating new echoes and connections. May this collaboration open new paths for artistic encounters and dialogue between Korea and the international performing arts community.
FDeeply committed to the world of dance since its inception, the House of Fine Jewellery reaffirmed its commitment to the art of choreography in 2020 with the launch of Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels.
Since its launch, the programme has supported numerous dance companies in the creation of their works, as well as the institutions that present them on the international stage. This initiative is reinforced by the Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival, held in various cities around the world.
In addition to this support for creation and dissemination, increasing importance is being placed on the issues of transmission and education. Together with its partners, Dance Reflections organises residencies for professional dancers and awareness-raising activities for everyone to engage with choreographic culture. Driven by the values of creation, transmission and education, this programme forms part of a series of initiatives led by Van Cleef & Arpels. These include, in particular, the School of Jewellery Arts founded in 2012, and the ‘de Mains en mains’ event, which offers an insight into the jewellery trades.
Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is partnering with the 80th Festival d’Avignon by supporting the presentation of 1 Degree Celsius by Sung Im Her, Muette by Boris Charmatz, HOW ROMANTIC by Katerina Andreou, and Le Pas du Monde by Collectif XY.
