Le souvenir mélancolique du bled
The listening day concludes with a gentle nostalgia, nodding to Mohammed El Khatib's tenderly humorous collective stories, imbued with longing for distance, exile, and homesickness, much like a journey through memory in a Renault 12.
La route du bled
Gibraltar et l’odeur des grillades 3/3
A creation by Halima Elkhatabi (2019, ep 3/3, 14mn))
Production & mix : Arnaud Forest
La route du bled is the ritual of returning home for summer holidays in Morocco. Halima Elkhatabi has chosen to have this story told by several voices. Funny, lucid and contradictory, but always moving, their words weave together a little-known, picaresque tale shared by millions of French people of North African origin. A tender and funny chronicle of the summer roads to Morocco.
Ya Rayah, l’exil en dansant
A documentary by Mehdi Ahoudig et Hassen Ferhani (2023, 32 mn)
Directed by : Mehdi Ahoudig et Samuel Hirsch
Created by the Algerian singer Dahmane El Harrachi in 1971, ‘Ya Rayah’ tells the story of the pain of exile in France and of missing one's homeland. Its cover version by Rachid Taha in 1998 triumphed on dancefloors the world over, and united France at the ‘1, 2, 3 Soleil’ concert at Bercy. In both cases, this hit sung in Arabic is also a French song. It is now part of our common heritage. A documentary investigation to the dancing rhythm of the intimate regrets of the homeland.
