Filmed in November 2022 at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.

Forêt is both a museum and choreographic project. Initiated by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and her collaborator Némo Flouret, both eager to take dance beyond the stage, eleven dancers move among the paintings of Théodore Géricault, Jacques-Louis David, Leonardo da Vinci, and Giotto.

Through this approach, the artists of the Rosas company invite us to explore a broad swath of pictorial art from the 14th to the 19th century, tracing its evolution alongside the emergence of a new visual culture and a modern aesthetic sensibility.

Through plays on scale, framing, and contrast, centered on the dual theme of thresholds and boundaries, Forêt brings into resonance the dancers' movements with the narrative and aesthetic power of the paintings exhibited at the Louvre. From this dialogue emerges a fresh interpretation of the works lining the first floor of the Denon Wing.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Némo Flouret, and Laure Adler.

BREL by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Solal Mariotte will be presented at the Carrière de Boulbon from 6 to 20 July.
Derniers Feux by Némo Flouret will be shown in the courtyard of the Lycée Saint-Joseph from 19 to 25 July.
The book Quand elle danse by Laure Adler is published by Éditions du Seuil.
