For the Fort Saint-André, Johann Le Guillern has conceived a series of installations created in situ and in dialogue with the site, its topography, its history, and its architecture. The Architextures project develops and catalogues the possibilities for assembling wooden modules such as beams, planks, and battens – each module becoming essential to the whole. An initial assembly is based on a mechanical key that plays on opposing forces. The accumulation or combination of this principle creates utopian, self-supporting constructions based on a fragile balance: they weave into the landscape and engage with the memory and past of the sites they inhabit. These constructions become texture, or architexture.
