When the economic interests of a community clash with the common good, who is allowed to speak up? In Un procès – après l’ennemi du peuple, the decision is left to the audience.

Presentation

For their first collaboration, Christiane Jatahy and Wagner Moura imagine a sequel to Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People. Un procès - après l’ennemi du peuple (A Trial) is a conversation with the 150-year-old play, addressing today’s most urgent issues—the looming ecological disaster, the relationship between science and politics, between power and truth in the age of fake news. When doctor Thomas Stockmann discovers that the waters of his spa town are contaminated, he tries to warn the authorities and alert the population, only to be publicly discredited and censured, accused of endangering the local economy. His trial becomes an opportunity for him to defend himself and seek justice. Blending video, testimonies, and documentary writing, Un Procès places the audience in the position of jury, reaffirming theatre as a living space for debate and democracy.

한 공동체의 경제적 이해관계가 공공의 이익과 충돌할 때, 누구에게 발언의 권리가 주어지는가? 재판 - 민중의 적, 그 이후에서, 결정은 관객의 몫이다.
