How does one write after fleeing their country and job overnight to escape repression? After witnessing friends and family massacred by regime forces or by Daesh? For whom does one write? In partnership with La Chartreuse, La Maison Antoine Vitez invites you to a discussion with two Syrian artists: Hatem Hadawy, who will present his text The Wall or the Eternity of a Massacre, and Liwaa Yazji, whose play Terror and film Haunted will be showcased as part of the Festival d’Avignon.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a first discussion around the text The Wall or the Eternity of a Massacre by Hatem Hadawy, followed by a second one dedicated to the work of Liwaa Yazji — the play Terror and the film Haunted.
Both talk will be co-hosted by Jumana Al-Yasiri—writer, researcher, and translator—and Leyla Rabih, theatre director, head of ENSATT, and translator.
Please arrive at the venue 45 minutes before the start of the performance. Please note that parking spaces and the nearest bus stop are a 10-minute walk away. We advise you to arrive early, as we do not accept latecomers once the performance has started.
