“Among the numerous theatrical events which the Sacd organises all year long through its Cultural Action, there is one that is essential - The Avignon Festival. Popular internationally, it is beyond contest.
This year, in association with the Festival, we have decided to embark on a new adventure.
Auteurs en scène (Authors on Stage) unites two disciplines from the world of performance art: stage-writing and directing.
One work from each of eight playwrights will be in the hands of two stage-directors, two ‘intermediaries', who will have worked for two weeks previously on the scripts with a group of actors.
This first-time experiment at the Festival is aimed at highlighting the work of the stage-director while at the same time inviting you to discover some of the new and talented writings in the French language today.”
