Tribute to Micheline Attoun

Micheline Attoun passed away on March 14 at the age of 87. A leading figure in the world of theater, she devoted her life to promoting arts and culture alongside her late husband Lucien Attoun. They leave behind them the legacy of Théâtre Ouvert. Micheline Attoun was a pioneer, a visionary and a fervent advocate of artistic expression in all its forms. As co-founder of Théâtre Ouvert, Micheline Attoun played an essential role in the discovery of numerous artists and the renewal of contemporary creation. Théâtre Ouvert's adventure began in 1971 at the Festival d'Avignon, taking over the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs for several years. The Festival d'Avignon salutes the memory of Micheline Attoun and the memory of Lucien Attoun, two examples that inspire and shed lasting light on the way we support artists today.
