The Festival d'Avignon announces the programming of 9 performances of the show Dans la mesure de l'impossible by Tiago Rodrigues, from 13 to 22 July, 2023, 4pm, at the Opéra Grand Avignon as part of its 77th edition.
We are welcoming this project following the cancellation of the show Les Émigrants by Krystian Lupa, produced by the Comédie de Genève, whose creation was interrupted and which cannot be presented this summer due to time, financial, and logistical constraints (see our 7 June, 2023 press release).
It is our dearest hope that Krystian Lupa's creation is able to see the light of day in the coming months. Faced with this unpredictable situation, the direction of the Festival asked the Comédie de Genève for help finding a show to present to its audience in July, at the same dates and in the same venue. Tiago Rodrigues's Dans la mesure de l'impossible, created in 2022 and produced by the Comédie de Genève, is the show we can present today based on the availability of its artists - subject to casting changes - and the financial and logistical capabilities of the Festival.
The Festival d'Avignon would like to thank everyone, artistic teams and audiences alike, for their support in the face of such a sudden and unexpected change. Spectators with tickets for Les Émigrants will be able to exchange their tickets for Dans la mesure de l'impossible or to request a refund.
Exchange and refund policy
The Festival will contact every spectator to offer to exchange or refund their tickets. Any ticket not exchanged will be automatically refunded after 1 September, 2023.
