For his musical Chewing Gum Silence, recreated with stage director Samuel Achache, Antonin Tri Hoang held workshops with schoolchildren in Seine-Saint-Denis, during which they worked on ‘little bits of tunes’ passed on by the young participants. The tunes are all the more touching because they have been distorted by the children's memories and vocal abilities. On stage, the musicians, Antonin Tri Hoang, pianist Jeanne Susin and drummer Thibault Perriard, play the roles of three sound archivists on a stage cluttered with boxes filled with the melodies of the world. Trying to organise their circulation, they make them appear and disappear in a great game of musical hide-and-seek.
