Sir Introvert and the Featherweights

There are voices that don’t fit in any box, and Benjamin Clementine’s is one of those. A baritone singer, self-taught pianist, and poet, this British artist of Ghanaian descent has built a body of work at the crossroads of song, classical music, and literature. From his early days on the streets of Paris to the greatest international stages, he has developed a musical language that belongs to him alone, made of silences, carefully chosen words, and a voice that cuts through everything.

For this 80th Festival d’Avignon, he takes his place in the Cour d’honneur, among seven-century-old stones, in a place that commands silence even before the music begins, for a unique evening in the heart of Avignon. The Cour listens, and Clementine responds.
