Presentation

In a world haunted by wars, crises, and violence, the literatures of the world —and theatre in particular— cannot remain silent. Since 2013, Ça va, ça va le monde ! has given voice to French-language dramatic writings from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Arab world. Through RFI’s cycle of readings, these texts, deeply rooted in the social and political realities of their regions, find a space for resonance and sharing.

d’Edouard Elvis Bvouma - Cameroun

In the basement of the presidential palace, the author of a book that has shaken the ruling leader is forced to justify every line of his work. Meanwhile, the repressive machine is in motion, scouring the country for copies of the book and anyone who might have read it.
Facing the dictator, the author cleverly tries to turn each alleged insult into a tribute.

Édouard Elvis Bvouma is a Cameroonian playwright and stage director. His plays have been staged or read in Africa, Europe, and the United States. He has received several awards, including Inédits d’Afrique et Outremer, the SACD Prize for Francophone Playwriting, the RFI Théâtre Prize, the Sony Labou Tansi Prize, as well as recognitions from Écrivains Associés du Théâtre, the Chartreuse Reading Committee, the Journées de Lyon, among others. His plays have been translated into English, Spanish, Dutch, and Romanian, broadcast on RFI and France Culture, and published by Lansman Éditeur.
