Supervised trials and work experience periods: two mechanisms for permanent or temporary employees to secure their return to work.
The supervised trial (after a work stoppage) and the Work Placement Period (without a work stoppage) are two mechanisms to help employees return to work:
- Test the employee's ability to return to his or her former position
- Test the employee's ability to return to his or her job with a modified workstation
- Test the employee's ability to return to a new workstation
- Look for ways to adapt the position or to reclassify the job
