Electric oratorio, musical show, fragmentary theatre, Without Doubt is at the crossroads. It brings together the dozen actors, musicians and singers who have worked with Jean-Paul Delore for over 10 years, including Dieudonné Niangouna whom he met in Brazzaville. Without Doubt tells the story of encounters, chance events, journeys and multiple cultures that intersect and dialogue. Here, words and musical notes share the stage, sometimes confront each other, often intertwine and attest that union is strength, the union of musical worlds and multiple words, from different continents, from south to north, from east to west. From South Africa to Brazil, from the two Congos to Japan, from Mozambique to France, artists are there to communicate their creations or those of their friends. Around songs and texts by Jean-Paul Delore, those of Mia Couto, Eugène Durif, Dieudonné Niangouna, Sony Labou Tansi and Nicholas Welch gravitate, as well as words improvised on stage or “written at the edge of the stage”, to create a journey into the territories travelled through and to recount a decade-long artistic adventure. The music specially composed during Jean-Paul Delore's earlier shows is joined by skilful or knocked-together improvisations, jazz, noise music, electronic or rock... This cosmopolitan group expresses the anger and joy, the sadness and commitment of those who look at our disrupted and fractured world and attempt, with their fragile weapons, to continue to question the uncertainties of our environment. Without Doubt, a title that “lies” to speak of the strength of doubt animating these artists who cross each other, lose and find themselves again to share the stage of a theatre without borders, open to the world.
