Félix Lajkó, at 26, is one of the most famous musicians in Hungary. His violin is enchanted, suprising and for some, inexplicable. He is Hungarian but was born in Voyvodin, in Yougoslavia and Lajkó is self-taught, having fed on a panoply of most different kinds of music, from Tzigane to Klezmer from the Carpathian basin, jazz, traditional music and contemporary works. In fact, for him there is no difference between different musical styles. All music is within his realm. That is how, over the years, he has been able to play with so many different artists such as Hungarian composer Szabados György, Yugoslav trumpeter, Boban Markovic, Emir Kusturica's musicians, French group Noir Désir while also improvising with DJs. He passes through jazz, rock, blues, pop like a traveller giving and taking. He sets ablaze the films for which he writes the scores. Whether he plays a written piece or he improvises, the music always vibrates in a new way. People now refer to a "Lajko" sound, but even if his music is always recognisable, it is still impossible to categorise him. This great violinist began, let's not forget, by playing the zither (which he still does).He has played in the great capital cities of Europe and in Japan, giving the impression everywhere that he wants to push back the limits of each genre, or go beyond them, unwittingly. He is first and foremost a lyrical person and light flashes from his violin.His concert in the Cour d'Honneur is one of the high spots of the Hungarian Cultural Season in France, Magyart.
