The Recuerdos son Recuerdos Company recreates an authentic version of Argentinian cabaret. It takes us back to the popular music of the beginning of the century and to the memories of Carlos Gardel's songs. Its cabaret and the artists and audience are in close physical proximity,
the performers singing tunes that are hot, powerful or velvety, emotionally strong or sad, mixed with wry smiles, floaty thirties-style dresses and seductively impeccable, well-cut suits. In a theatre in Avignon, we can drink in the atmosphere of the community hall somewhere in the suburbs of Buenos Aries, with rhythms that move us all - tangos, milongas, rancheras and waltzes.
