Marco Da Silva Ferreira came to dance via urban dances, something he has in common with South African company Via Katlehong, which has invited him to create a show with eight dancers from the company. Inspired by the frenetic energy of pantsula dance, førm Inførms is a vertical dance which shows the speed of dancing bodies to question the virulence of the modern theory of accelerationism. Marco Da Silva Ferreira pokes fun at action for action’s sake with no goal in mind by highlighting the hyperspeed of the dancers’ movements, which lead to a distortion of the bodies. But the illusion of bodies breaking exists only so that they can mend again before our very eyes. Feeling like one’s breaking in order to heal, finding pleasure at the edge of pain, being alone but always together: here are some of the counterpoints of this very contemporary dance heavy with our past...
