Mayra Andrade

From her military father, singer Mayra Andrade inherited a nomadic spirit. Born in Cuba, she grew up in Cape Verde before moving to Paris, and now lives in Lisbon. A self-taught artist, she composes on the guitar. On her first album, Navega, released in 2006, she sang primarily in Cape Verdean Creole, except for the French song “Comme s’il en pleuvait”, written by Tété. Over the past twenty years, Mayra Andrade has released six albums in which her cosmopolitan nature is reflected.
