Born in Athens, Katerina Andreou is based in France. A graduate of the Athens Law School and the Athens National School of Dance, she followed the ESSAIS program at the CNDC of Angers and holds a Master's degree in choreographic research (Paris 8). As a performer she has collaborated with DD Dorvillier, Anne Lise Le Gac, Bryan Campbell, Dinis Machado, Emmanuelle Huynh, Ana Rita Teodoro. In her own work she develops a physical practice specific to each project and seeks states of presence that result from a constant negotiation between contrasting or even contradictory tasks, fictions or universes, often questioning notions of authority and censorship. She creates herself the sound environment of her performances which becomes her main dramaturgical tool. She received the Jardin d'Europe prize at the ImpulsTanz festival in 2016 for her solo A kind of fierce. She then created the solo BSTRD (2018), the duo Zeppelin Bend (2021) with Natali Mandila, the performance Rave to Lament (2021), the solo Mourn Baby Mourn (2022), and most recently Bless This Mess (2024). In 2025, she created the piece HOW ROMANTIC for the Norwegian national company Carte Blanche and We Need Silence for the Lyon Opera Ballet. In 2026, she collaborated with Mélissa Guex to cosigned the duo SHOUT TWICE. She is an associate artist at the Maison de la Danse / Biennale de la Danse de Lyon, and an associate artist at the Centre National de la Danse (CND), as well as at Pôle-Sud Strasbourg starting in 2027.
Founded in 1989 in Bergen, Norway, Carte Blanche – Norwegian National Dance Company, creates two to three new productions every year in collaboration with choreographers from all kinds of backgrounds, both rising talents and seasoned veterans. As the Norvegian national company of contemporary dance, it brings together fourteen performers from Norway and all over the world.
