Jean Michel Bruyère / LFKs
LFKs is an international artists collective, founded in 1991 and based in Marseille. If the group constantly crosses every discipline, it is not to seek the “total show”, but only because it is unceasingly concerned with remaining free. Free to really treat the subjects it tackles without necessities other than those of their themes: minority struggles, clandestine immigration, unemployment, the animal's image in Western civilization, pan-Africanism, profanation as the basis of a new society... Each theme is then at the origin of a cycle of multiform creations (films, shows, publications, music, books), several years long and whose freedom of thought is maintained by “any and all the means necessary”. An admirer of Malcolm X, LFKS asserts “in all things, follow your own counsel”. At the Festival d'Avignon, it has already presented Children of the Night in 2002, Jëkk (sui in res), an open workshop in 2004, The Insult to the Landscape in 2005, The Playground of One in 2009 and The Dispersion of the Son in 2011.
