Invited by Carte Blanche, the norwegian national company, Katerina Andreou asks its fourteen performers to grapple with the question of the couple. Rejecting naivety and idealism in favour of biting irony, the Greek choreographer shines a light on the ambivalence of romantic relationships, torn between the longing for attachment and for freedom. To carry out this radical reimagining of the duet, HOW ROMANTIC draws inspiration from the dance marathons popular in the United States during the Great Depression, in which dancers threw themselves body and soul into competition, driven by the hope for a better life and the desire for social recognition.
아이러니와 절망의 춤 사이를 오가며, HOW ROMANTIC은 보여주기식인 사회 속에서 연인 관계와 친밀함에 관한 인식을 복합적으로 그려낸다.
