Presentation

Whether he is staging Sophocles’s tragedies in the middle of the countryside under the pouring rain or playing Shakespeare at breakneck speed, Gwenaël Morin’s intense shows feel like they are being invented on the spot. From Don Quixote—the hidalgo who wanted to live like a knight in a novel—the director has retained the fierce desire to test theatre against real life. He tackles Cervantès’s masterwork with the promise to turn it upside down, accompanied by a whimsical team: Jeanne Balibar as the picaresque heroine, Marie-Noëlle as her horse, Thierry Dupont as Sancho Panza, and himself in the role of the donkey... Far from being a simple escape, literature becomes a means to create meaning amid the chaos. Démonter les remparts pour finir le pont is an unprecedented collaboration with Gwenaël Morin who, starting in 2023 and for four years, will be creating a play based on the repertoire and in relation to the guest language of each edition.

Este Quijote de nuevo cuño, versión libre de la novela épica de Cervantes, se lanza al asalto de la literatura para pensar las utopías actuales.
