Ten years later, En Atendant returns, bringing together the polyphonic music of Ars Subtilior and a dance akin to a walk.

Presentation

Same place, the cloître des Célestins, same time: from dusk to night; more than ten years after its “premiere,” Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s En Atendant returns. Giving us the opportunity to experience (for the first time or not) her repertoire, the Belgium choreographer brings together the musicians of the Cour et Cœur ensemble and her dancers, longtime collaborators and newcomers alike. They weave together the polyphonies of Ars Subtilior, which appeared during the Black Death pandemic of the 14th century, and a contemporary dance akin to a walk. En Atendant is a true meditation in a space at once open and closed, which encourages us to feel, to breathe. Reprising this show taken from the repertoire of this major dance figure allows us to experience its essential nature in a time of pandemics and climate change. In this space that brings together nature, architecture, and history, its resonance answers our contemporary anxieties with a celebration of life. Programming En Atendant and EXIT ABOVE after the tempest for this edition draws a parallel between those two works and gives them the opportunity to enter a conversation.
