Presentation

The struggle of the son against the father, of modernity against Antiquity, of dwarves against giants… Dimitris Papaioannou asks the major question of legacy and of the acceptance of what is passed on to us. Founding myths exist to inspire us and help us on our paths. Who is the Minotaur, this step-son born of adultery, monstrous and kept locked up, killed by Athens so the city can become the new civilisation? Who is Zeus, the son who escaped his father Kronos’s hunger to found a new world? New Creation is all that. Stories of sons, stories of men. Confrontations, transgressions, assimilations. For this handover, the Cour d’honneur du Palais des papes transforms right in front of us and becomes a place of illusions, full of mythological figures and burlesque silhouettes. In an inexhaustible quest for classical beauty, this visual theatre gives us the possibility of an island: an enchanting and philosophical place from which we could look back on our modern times with tenderness, a place of water and femininity.
