Presentation

After the great European epic “Tragedia Endogonidia”, Romeo Castellucci presents a new theatrical adventure that takes us through the meanders of allegories, by placing the problem of form once again centre stage. A simple yell “Hey girl!” provides the basis for the construction of a show made up of a series of enigmas the spectator can resolve at his leisure. Each image, constructed with incomparable visual and audio perfection, evolves and transforms itself imperceptibly.
Centred round a female figure, he addresses mankind by analogy. As Romeo Castellucci says, "Hey Girl! is me.” On stage, the young girl replicates herself to create a prism that shows all assets, colours, temperatures, varieties of gestures possible, all at the same time. The body of an adolescent girl functions like a magnifying glass, letting us observe the abyssal realities of an ordinary life with its mundane days, light years away from the grandeur of myths, but lived like a prayer in renewed grandeur.
Apparently centred round medieval symbols, it's in fact about a liberating struggle with symbols against symbols, you could say, by considering them as elements alien to life.
Romeo Castellucci, advancing at a breath-shortening pace, creates intense suspense, in a tableau of stunning beauty, sparking our imagination each time and giving us something to dream about, to imagine so we can build the work for ourselves. Faithful to his conception of theatre which is to confront you with “unknown figures”, unknown yet so close to us they can only provoke an immediate echo, Romeo Castellucci produces a new, luminous and heart wrenching tragedy.
