80 people have gathered to present the programme for the 80th Festival d'Avignon live from La FabricA. Forming a choir, festival-goers take to the stage to give voice to the Festival and tell the story of the upcoming edition.
“Avignon has always been a place of debate, and we want to continue to nurture the complexity of that debate. In the face of uninhibited discourse, in a society where speech tends to become simplified, sometimes in a frightening way, we affirm the beauty of doubt and uncertainty. During the weeks of the Festival, questions will emerge not only from the performances but also from the encounters and the Café des idées: they will spill out of the theatres to fill the streets, squares and every venue of the Festival. They will be like poems in which the question mark rings out like a promise. They will carry urgency and desires, joys and anxieties. They will remind us that our curiosity is infinite.”
