Arles

Ange and Bert are looking for an idol; it will be Marguerite Duras. Together, they strive to create a masterpiece, losing themselves between fiction, fantasy, and phantoms.

Presentation

Ange and Bert decide to follow in Marguerite Duras’s footsteps. Exploring the places where Marguerite loved to write, they will play with the boundaries and codes of fiction, pile mise en abyme on top of each other, and poke at the question of literary creation. Between philosophical discussions about the deconstruction of the human and palavers about artistic reconstruction, they try their hand at writing their own masterpiece. A story within the story… With Where I thought I was there was nobody, young directors Anaïs Muller and Bertrand Poncet invite us on a vertiginous and literary quest for identity with seriousness and humour. The second part of their “Treatises of perdition,” with its derisive title, won the Jury Prize at the 2021 Festival Impatience.
