We have been aware of the engagement of the film-maker Amos Gitai for the last 30 years in his art to question Israel's political and social situation, often making him a virtual outlaw in his own country. Arno Gisinger, who has been both an artist and historian, combines the two disciplines in his work to question the relationship between memory, history and visual representations. Amos Gitai has also recently turned to Greek tragedy, by adapting Flavius Josephus, to question present-day East and West relations. The meeting of two men, two artists, one from the shores of the Mediterranean, the other from Middle Europe, who are furthermore of two different generations, promises a very rich crossed dialogue on their careers and their views on the political situation, in relation to the history of men and the history of the arts.
