Johann Le Guillerm, mesmerizes his audiences by manipulating objects he has created or re-worked, by a nail-biting balancing act - he's actually an athlete of sensitivity. His path has taken him to rediscover the original curious nature of the circus, this “natural architecture of gatherings”, which brings together a community around universal minority practices. He was trained at the Centre National des Arts du Cirque de Châlons-en-Champagne in France, and has performed with Archaos, la Volière Dromesko and Cirque O. With his own company Cirque Ici, a circus-fairground micro-society laboratory, he gives body to his lyrical and bewitching solos.
Secret
A beautiful secret is always well-kept, but also shared. The corporal, spiritual, scientific and poetic art of Johann Le Guillerm seems condensed in the secretive, a secret, a key word which describes something reserved and resonating with the verb, “to create”. Secret is moreover the scenic crystallization of a thought in movement within Johann Le Guillerm's laboratory which he set up when he returned from an intiatory journey across the world. A thread that has spun itself through universal circus acts and around a relationship based on fragile humanity just like an artist reeling in the audience during a performance. What this tight-rope walker of sensations discovered around the planet materializes under the tent, what the traveller observed outside, is now found within. With a fascinating batch of objects, Johann Le Guillerm sets out to define the components of minimal forms – such as a dot – whose motifs are found all around us everyday. The magic of the solo artist's closeness with material things resides in the changing points of view, the subtle shifting of references, the mental manipulation of circus-ring mobiles and sculptures.
