On stage, a forest of canvases and frames is bathed in lazy light. Over an hour and a half, this space will take shape, dissolve, and reassemble into living tableaux, set to the music of Bach, Tchaikovsky, Berlioz, and Cage, carried by the words of Kafka and Goethe, Dostoevsky and Ovid. Words that are embodied by figures who appear and disappear, dressed in costumes that seem to have already lived many lives. They come and go as if perpetually standing on the threshold of the world. To speak of the Théâtre du Radeau is to speak of François Tanguy. Of one of the most singular artistic journeys of the past forty years. Of a fragile, ephemeral, and welcoming body of work, which embraces and leads us into a dreamlike journey where poetry and existence become one.
The Festival d’Avignon is hosting the final two creations of the Théâtre du Radeau, offering an opportunity to reflect on the artistic vision of the company.
