On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Festival d'Avignon opens the doors of La FabricA, its only permanent venue.
Composed of a room the size of the stage in the Cour d'honneur, eighteen lodgings and two adjoining technical spaces, this theatrical "factory" allows to welcome in residence, all year long, artistic teams who work on the preparation of their next creation for the Festival d'Avignon. This regular presence of artists in the Avignon area allows the Festival to intensify its work of raising awareness of the performing arts among all audiences. In July, FabricA changes its function to become one of the Festival's essential performance spaces. A covered theatre with six hundred seats and a stage of considerable size and height, it allows for the presentation of large productions with significant scenographic and technological needs.
During the guided tours, discover the history of the Festival through FabricA with Clément Demontis, a guide and lecturer with a passion for history. Visitors will be able to discover the backstage of this place which illustrates 76 years of history, theatre and celebration in Avignon.
These days will also be an opportunity to discover the photos taken by Christophe Raynaud de Lage, official photographer of the Festival d'Avignon, of backstage, rehearsals and shows. All these pictures immortalize the moments of artistic effervescence linked to FabricA since its creation.
You will also be able to discover models of different places of the Festival d'Avignon.
