From gender parity to equality

  • Professional meeting

While gender parity is gaining ground and now appears to be firmly established in the evolution of our sector, the issue of unequal access to resources for creation, production, and distribution persists and is even worsening.

Presentation

Twenty years after the publication of Reine Prat’s first report and ten years after the adoption of the LCAP law, this discussion takes stock of the progress made towards gender equality in the performing arts.

While the proactive policies implemented over the past two decades have led to significant advances in the visibility of women, their representation within certain governing bodies and the institutional recognition of gender equality issues, inequalities persist in access to production resources and leadership positions.

The question is therefore no longer simply whether women are present, but whether, at every stage of their professional careers, they have the same means and opportunities as men to create, lead, produce and pass on their knowledge.

Drawing on the findings of the Reine Prat report, this round table will examine developments over the past twenty years, highlight the mechanisms that continue to generate inequalities, and identify collective proposals that can help shape future public policies and professional strategies.
