The Syndeac has tarted a reflection which aims to rethink the foundations of art and culture as a public service to benefit as many as possible. The health crisis and the successive decisions by the government to close all cultural institutions for a year were striking given our network’s missions and its active participation to the life of the Republic. Culture closed down while the other public service of education remained open almost without interruption, prompting the question of their relationship, of our missions, and of how those are perceived by the political sphere. We want to discuss those things and compare our missions to that of other public services particularly hit by the crisis: health, research, and education.
