Presentation

Claude Debussy's piano as the subject for a choreography... Belgian artists Lisbeth Gruwez (choreographer and dancer) and Claire Chevallier (pianist) rose to the challenge. Here, no Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, but his Estampes as well as pieces from both books of the Préludes, on which Lisbeth Gruwez dances with her usual unique style while Claire Chevallier brings a twist to modern music on a period Érard piano. Piano Works Debussy is a visual and musical journey, which doesn't try to illustrate the music but leads us towards unknown lands and incredible landscapes. The genius of Claude Debussy, who wanted above all to invent new forms, finds in Lisbeth Gruwez and Claire Chevallier's approach a faithful, surprising, and always spontaneous vision. Between instinct and method...
