Presentation

Despire his son Nejat's misgivings, widower Ali decides to live in Bremen with Yeter, a Turkish-born prostitute. Yeter's accidental death drives the father and son apart, and Nejat goes to Istanbul to try to find Ayten, Yeter's daughter. Meanwhile, in Hamburg, Ayten befriends Lotte, a German student drawn to the charm and political commitment of the young Turk. Arrested and incarcerated, Ayten is eventually driven to the border and imprisoned in Turkey. On a whim, Lotte decides to leave everything behind to go to Turkey. The Edge of Heaven is a film about exile and shared destinies between Turkey and Germany.
