Presentation

A young Senegalese nurse moves to Antibes to join her French employers. The pleasure of discovering a new world soon turns into bitter disappointment. Isolation, contempt, the atmosphere of racism, and her never-ending chores finally drive her to suicide. The film is based on a true story that took place in 1958 on the French Riviera and which Ousmane Sembène learnt about in Nice Matin.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Dominique Wallon, Festival des Cinémas d'Afrique du Pays d'Apt
