Presentation

This video opus by the plastic and video artist Sung Hwan Kim, originating from South Korea, is a sort of poetic and social meditation. It is anchored in his physical, almost phenomenological experience in a New York neighbourhood, where he has been living for several years. He closely examines here the recurring themes of his work, connected to the often difficult experience of migration, to the idea of having a place called home and the memories you bring with you. Faced with the incommensurability of private and collective memories, of inner, exterior and even cosmic spaces, Sung Hwan Kim's work appropriates these components of subjective memory and the world's rumblings, in a flow of dream-like associations and in the acuteness of a lucid perception.
