Presentation

François, Olivier et les autres... (François, Olivier and the others...) As always, the Author initiates, innovates, mixes, qualifies boldness, triggers echos, shocks, desires... The SACD (with its legacy of the Texte Nu and Mots d'Auteurs series at the Avignon Festival), and the new Festival team have decided to allocate to François Bon et Olivier Cadiot - two of the French-language authors whose work is in this year's programme - the project of calling on other French-language writers to form “an authors'chain“.The attentiveness, the choices, the rigour of François Bon and Olivier Cadiot have matched our expectations... From social issues to poetry, from the music of words to the meaning of notes, from emotion to the conceptual, a mirror of our most lively writing will be etched from reflections.Let us now, give a heart-felt response to the desire of these authors.
Louise Doutreligne,
First vice-president of SADC

“Being a committed writer, meant believing that books could change the world, and writing them to that end. The questions which come to us do not allow such a simple answer. While our books do not have a social aim, the theatre is a place of ritual and a venue for public commitment to words. When I was asked to invite authors to Avignon, it was that frontier that it seemed I had to call into question. So I asked each of them to consider that it is not just a matter of a public reading, but also the question of talking about writing, of a reflection on personal practices, in fact what it this work of the world.”
