Presentation

Imbecile or saint ? Oblivious or lucid ? Naïve or brilliant ? The character of Prince Myshkin has often left the page of the novel to tread the boards, like many of Dostoyevski's heroes, because of their richness. In France the range of interpretations of Myshkin is great, from Philippe Avron directed by André Barsacq in 1956 to Philippe Demarle directed by Joël Jouanneau in 1988, without forgetting Gérard Philipe in a Georges Lampin film in 1945. Myshkin's distinctive mark is his ambiguity and his ambivalence. He represents goodness but also failure. How can one love a woman and at the same time claim to love the whole of humanity ? The Christic message is confronted with reality - and with an array of characters with romantic and sensual needs. Evil wins and madness takes over .At 30, Grzegorz Jazyna is one of Poland's most brilliant and youngest artists. He was assisted by Krystian Lupa. He perceives in Prince Myshkin echoes of eastern European society today. Brutally transformed by liberalism and capitalism, Myshkin drives out and renders greed blameworthy. At the same time, like the Janus-faced Myshkin, man has never been so two-faced. What is goodness in a world of exacerbated duality ? The show, where music and video are as integral as the acting, is based on the human being 's duality and on the double nature of emotion - basic and refined.
