The playwrights invite us to an exemplary reconstruction of their work in the form of a protean challenge, that is public readings of their works. The writer has agreed to stage the play exactly as he or she imagined it, nurtured it and brought it to life, for their own ends. There is no intermediary, no wings where the playwright can hide, no directors, no way of avoiding those words which have flown from his or her pen or keyboard.
