La Troppa

Chile

Presentation

La Troppa Company is made up of three Santiago de Chile artists who love recounting stories, initiatory journeys, incredible voyages against the backgroune of a versatile set. Gemelos is an adaptation of Agota Kristof's novel, The Great Cahie. It is the story of twin brothers, living in Europe during WW II and sent off to take refuge in the country at their grandmother's, a little old woman nicknamed The Witch. They discover life with industrious curiosity, cynical realism and natural goodness. The three artists portray the two children and the grandmother but also double as many other characters using costumes, masks and puppets, marionettes, dolls and old wooden toys. A giant wooden toy castle transforms itself throughout the story cartoon-style. The thousand and one scenic inventions take us back to our childhood wonder or ...fears.
