Kubra Khademi

A painter and performer, Kubra Khademi was born in Kabul in 1989. Refusing to get married, she left her village to study Fine Arts. After her performance of Armor, in which she criticised her country’s patriarchy, she found refuge in France in 2015. There, she has continued her paintings of women, in a style that uses pictorial tradition to assert the feminist freedom on which her entire work rests. She regularly creates performances inspired by the situation in her country. Exhibited in many European countries—lately in Lille—Kubra Khademi’s work is now travelling the world.
