Han Kang

South Korean writer Han Kang gained international recognition when her novel The Vegetarian won the International Booker Prize in 2016. Her novels often draw on Korean history and its collective traumas, particularly the period of military dictatorship. In 2023, Impossible Farewells (Impossibles adieux) was awarded the Prix Médicis étranger. In 2024, she received the Nobel Prize in Literature for her body of work.
