Antoine de Baecque

Cinema and theatre historian Antoine de Baecque was editor-in-chief of Cahiers du cinéma and of the cultural pages of Libération. A specialist of the French New Wave and biographer of Truffaut, Godard, Rohmer, and Chabrol, he has also published several books about theatre, including Histoire du Festival d’Avignon (with Emmanuelle Loyer) and L’Esprit d’Automne. Histoire du Festival d’automne, both with Gallimard. He teaches at the Ecole normale supérieure and is the director of the SACRe-PSL programme, presented at the Festival d’Avignon since 2022.
